Daily words of life

  • But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 1 John 3:17. Apostle John in this bible verse stated that a person who has no empathy towards the needy does not have a compassionate heart. In Bible times the bowels were considered the seat of emotions and feelings. Compassion and love towards others is one of the marks of a true Christian. Anyone who sees anybody in need and has the means to help but refuses, does not have the love of God in them.
  • But Saul began ravaging the church [and assaulting believers]; entering house after house and dragging off men and women, putting them in prison. Now those [believers] who had been scattered went from place to place preaching the word [the good news of salvation through Christ]. Acts 8:3‭-‬4. In Jerusalem the church had become a powerful and mighty movement to advance the Gospel of Christ Jesus. A Pharisee named Saul (also known as Paul) was one of the instigators who attempted to eliminate the movement of the church. This persecution resulted in the scattering of the beleivers. Many beleivers carried the message of Jesus wherever they went as they flee from Jerusalem, and this incident helped the church to triumph by spreading the gospel outside Jerusalem. The church should be able to prevail in all circumstances, to spread the Gospel to the world until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep. John 21 vs 15-17. Jesus probed Peter to confirm his love and loyalty for Him. This interview happened after he had denied Him three times before His crucifixion but later declared his love for Him three times after His resurrection. Peter assured Jesus of his love and loyalty to Him and the other disciples. He was then commissioned as an Apostle to care for His disciples. This also reaffirms Peter’s calling with that of the other disciples to follow Jesus. As Ministers of the Gospel, we must care for God’s children by feeding them with the true word of God, restore their faith when shaken, and help them in times of need.
  • Now a man of the house of Levi [the priestly tribe] went and took as his wife a daughter of Levi. The woman conceived and gave birth to a son; and when she saw that he was [especially] beautiful and healthy, she hid him for three months [to protect him from the Egyptians]. When she could no longer hide him, she got him a basket (chest) made of papyrus reeds and covered it with tar and pitch [making it waterproof]. Then she put the child in it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile.
    Exodus 2:1‭-‬3
  • In this bible verse Moses mother hid him to protect him from the death order issued by Pharoah against all male children of the israelites. The ‘’ark’’ in which he was hidden was a basket woven from leaves of the papyrus plant. In ancient days beauty was regarded as a mark of divine favor. Moses extraordinary appearance led his parents to augur his future greatness. The effort of Moses mother by protecting her son from the death order led Moses to fulfill his divine call as a deliverer of the Israelites out of Egypt. Good mothers play a key role in the success of their children. GOD BLESS ALL MOTHERS!!
  • “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
    Matthew 5:13
In this Bible verse Jesus instructed His disciples to be effective in the world. Jesus used the imagery of salt to tell His disciples how to live their Christian life. Salt heals wounds, adds flavour and preserves food. He told His disciples that if they did not demonstrate their distinctive Purity and Holiness as His people, they would have no influence in the world in which they live. The higher calling of every Christian is to serve genuinely and to help meet the needs of this world.
  • Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not Lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. 1 Peter 5:2‭-‬4. This bible verse portrays the second coming of Christ Jesus as the Chief Shepherd. In bible times wealth was often measured by the size of ones flocks and herds of livestock. Some wealthy people had hundreds of sheep, and they needed the service of several shepherds. These shepherds would be surpervised by a chief shepherd. In the same way, Christ has entrusted His people in the hands of His Ministers to watch over them. The Ministers of the Gospel who lead God’s people should remember that they are under the supervision of Christ Jesus. He will return to reward those who served Him faithfully and took care of God's people with wisdom, love and compassion.
  • You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not recorded in Your book? Psalms 56:8. This Bible verse tells us that God sees our tears. There was an ancient custom observed by the mourners at funerals, whereby the mourners would collect the tears they shed for departed loved ones in small flasks and place them in their tombs as memorials of their loved ones. This was David’s way of saying that God knows about our sorrows and pain. He even keeps a record of the tears we shed in our moments of sorrow and sadness. God sees our tears and He will restore our Joy.
  • If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
    1 Corinthians 13:1
This bible verse talks about the beleivers who speak in tongues yet lack love. Pagan worship in Apostle Paul’s time was often followed by strange noises, loud blasts on trumpets, the clang of gongs and cymbals. He claimed that the speech of the believers at that time were no better than these worthless rituals unless spoken in love. No matter how fluent we are in speech, even if we speak in unknown tongues and we have no love it amounts to nothing. God is love so we should demonstrate self giving love towards each other.
  • Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4 vs 16 This Bible verse gives the believer bold access to the throne of God. The kings of Bible times could not be approached easily by anyone except their most trusted counselors. These unapproachable kings, makes us realize how easy it is for us to access our saviour Jesus. He has given us free access eventhough He is exalted to the highest position as God’s son. We can bring our needs boldly to Jesus and expect to be received cheerfully into His presence.
  • God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
    Hebrews 6:18‭-‬20.
This bible verse gives the promise of hope to the believer. For we have a double ground of confidence, in God the promiser and the Guarantor who gives us His word and confirms it by His oath. The sure hope that God will perform His promise to those who believe in Him, and bring them right through to the end, which is a great encouragement to persevere in faith, binding Christians firmly to their heavenly home, that Holy of Holies above where Christ has already entered as His people’s advocate.
  • And he said, “Why, what has He done that is evil?” But they continued shouting all the louder, “Let Him be crucified!” So when Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but rather that a riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands [to ceremonially cleanse himself of guilt] in the presence of the crowd, saying, I am innocent of this [righteous] Man’s blood; see to that yourselves.”
    Matthew 27:23-24
Pontius Pilate was based in Caesarea and he was in charge of Judea and Samaria. He only comes to Jerusalem occasionally to preserve order. So Jesus accusers brought Him to Pilate to be examined if He will be found guilty. He tested Jesus for four days and found Him not guilty of the allegations brought against Him. But he was under pressure from the Jewish religious leaders and the crowd to execute Jesus. He publicly discharged himself from responsibility of Jesus's death by washing his hands before the crowd and he transferred the consequences on them and they accepted that Jesus Christ should be crucified. Christ was innocent but He was handed over to death that we will be saved.
  • Who will bring any charge against God’s elect (His chosen ones)? It is God who justifies us [declaring us blameless and putting us in a right relationship with Himself]. Romans 8:33. In This bible verse, Paul stated that there is no man, angel, or demon, who can bring any allegations against God’s elect. There is no one who will be able to change God’s decree of Justification for His chosen ones.
  • And there was a woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone. She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased. And Jesus said, "Who was it that touched me?" When all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!" But Jesus said, "Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me."
    Luke 8:43‭-‬46.
In this biblical passage there was a woman with a constant flow of blood. This woman was rejected by society, unable to enter the temple, or to touch other people. All medical help failed and none could cure her. When she heard about Jesus, she beleived and touched the fringe of His garment in faith and was healed instantly from her bleeding. The power of God that healed this woman is still available today to heal anyone who believes.
  • Jesus said to him,“I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied to Him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. Matthew 8:7‭-‬8. This scripture version revealed the humility of this Roman officer and his confidence in Jesus authority over demons, and sickness. His awareness of Jesus power is acclaimed as faith which produced the healing he desired for his servant. Beleiving and obeying the spoken word of God has the power to heal and save even from a distance.
  • I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; The humble and downtrodden will hear it and rejoice. Psalms 34:1‭-‬2. The psalmist encourage us to come to the point of spiritual certainty to praise and thank God even in tribulations. We must praise God at all times because of His endless goodness which He has shown towards us. God is worthy of our praise regardless of our circumstances.
  • “But woe (judgment is coming) to you, [self-righteous] scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven in front of people; for you do not enter yourselves, nor do you allow those who are [in the process of] entering to do so. Matthew 23:13. In this bible verse, the Pharisees and Scribes were using their teaching power to block the people from entering into the kingdom of God while they themselves refuse to enter. They put stumbling blocks in the way to prevent the right knowledge of God's revealed word to the sinners coming to repentance and conversion. Believers should be careful with their words and actions in order not to hinder those who are willing to enter the kingdom of God.
  • Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”Acts 5:3‭-4. This scripture portion serves as a warning against hypocrisy within the christian church. Communal sharing of posession was voluntary rather than required. Ananias and Sapphira acted out a lie to give an impression that they had brought the exact amount for the sold possession. God let them know that He hates hypocrisy and used their careless behaviour as a deterrent to other believers at that time. We must be truthful to ourselves, God and to other people.
  • Now the company of believers was of one heart and soul, and not one [of them] claimed that anything belonging to him was [exclusively] his own, but everything was common property and for the use of all. Acts 4:32. The focus of this scripture was to offer physical help to the new converts who were staying temporary in Jerusalem to receive further instructions and to be established in the word of God. The sharing in Jerusalem originated from devotion to God, it was purely one's own free will, and was never planned to be permanent. This practice lasted for only a limited period of time that made it possible for the new converts who had come from other countries to Jerusalem for the Festival of Pentecost to stay longer than they had provided. Offering physical help in the church is very important however we should focus more on the Spiritual growth of the members.
  • Not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.
    Hebrews 10:25
This scripture portion was written to warn the Jewish Christian group who had broken away from the main church to return to the church. He realized that there could be possible danger of persecution and backsliding for breaking away from the main church. We should not allow anyone to discouraged us from the true church fellowship as we are waiting for the second coming of Christ Jesus.
  • “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” In this scripture portion Jesus extended an invitation to those who were under the yoke of the law. The scribes spoke of the yoke of the law as the glorious obedience to God which freed man from obligations to the world, and gave ‘rest’ and ‘peace of mind’. But Jesus criticizes this yoke of religious legalism as heavy and wrong, and presents His own message as an alternative. He is the only teacher who by his person and work can lead them to the Father and bring them the rest of soul which is the very essence of true spiritual experience. The Gospel of Christ Jesus removes sin and gives eternal life to anyone who need it.
  • For the message of the cross is foolishness [absurd and illogical] to those who are perishing and spiritually dead [because they reject it], but to us who are being saved [by God’s grace] it is [the manifestation of] the power of God. In this scripture portion Paul made a firm decision to preach the doctrine of the cross alone. He identified that those who are lost considered the message of the Cross foolishness but to the saved, the simple message of the cross is the power of God. Christ crucifixion has done something amazing for the whole world that all the wisdom and power of mankind could have never accomplish. Jesus shed His blood on the cross for our sins and anyone who believes in the power of the cross shall be saved.
  • For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. This scripture portion point out the conflict between sin and righteousness. Sin pays wages to those who work for it, which leads to the degrading of the whole man ending in complete destruction. Those who are set free from sin and brought into God’s service gains sanctification. The free gift of Eternal life conforms us to the Character of God revealed in Christ Jesus. We must all desire to receive the free gift of eternal life to enter into the Kingdom of God.
  • Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. This scripture portion reveals that there could be a habit to be less obedient when the spiritual leader is absent, but the philipians obeyed ‘’much more’’ in Paul’s absence. He encouraged them to carry out completely in their own interest so as to achieve the desired result. We must first receive salvation which is the divine work accomplished at Calvary by Christ Jesus and then work it out by the help of the Holy Spirit to its ultimate completion. Salvation is by grace, but it should be manifested in our daily lives to glorify Christ in everything we do.
  • Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.” This parable illustrates the productivity of the seed which is determined by the quality and preparation of the soils. The fruitfulness of the gospel will depend on the attitude, moral and spiritual depth of the hearers. The harvest or lack of harvest depends on the reception to the Gospel. We must pray to prevent the enemy from stealing the fruitfulness of the word of God from our hearts.
  • Knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, “Any kingdom that is divided against itself is being laid waste; and no city or house divided against itself will [continue to] stand. In this scripture portion Jesus answered the pharisees who were accusing Him of performing miracles with satanic powers. Jesus was not ignorant of their reasonings. He gave an example about the instability of the divided kingdom and the divided city or house to show them how unreasonable they were in their thinking. But He brought to their attention that His works ruins Satan’s kingdom. We should be able to discern between True or false miracles in order not to speak against the works of the Holy Spirit.
  • (“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is he who stays awake and who keeps his clothes [that is, stays spiritually ready for the Lord’s return], so that he will not be naked—spiritually unprepared—and men will not see his shame.”). This scripture portion tells us how the Lord’s coming will take the world by surprise, but those who are watchful and spiritually prepared will not be surprised when the hour comes. The Lord gives us the charge to be ready for His coming and to be clothed in the garments of Justification and sanctification, so as to be accepted. We must pray that we will be found blameless in our spirit, soul and body at the second coming of Jesus Christ.
  • “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? This is a perfect description of those preachers who have opposed or altered the true gospel. Outwardly they look gentle and soft hearted as lambs, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. The Character of these prophets and teachers are revealed through their actions and words. Many are being led the wrong way by these false prophets and teachers. We should be able to discern the difference between the true elected prophets and teachers who have been called by God from those who have not been called.
  • Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. In this allegory Jesus Christ is referred to as the Good shepherd and as the door into the sheepfold. The sheepfold refers to sacred enclosure of God's true people and the Pharisees are referred to as the thieves and robbers who are trying to lead Israel while avoiding the door (Jesus christ). A true spiritual leader comes through the legitimate way which is Christ Jesus and he is recognized by God's people.
  • Then Isaac planted [seed] in that land [as a farmer] and reaped in the same year a hundred times [as much as he had planted], and the Lord blessed and favored him. And the man [Isaac] became great and gained more and more until he became very wealthy and extremely distinguished. In this scripture portion God compelled Isaac to trust in His power to provide during a season of famine and not to move to another land. Isaac obeyed the word of God and he stayed in the land and he became prosperous and increased in his wealth. We should not be moved in times of difficulties but trust in God's ability which is able to bless us beyond measure.
  • “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? This scripture encouraged us to trust in God completely for our daily provision. Constant worrying about the lack of material and temporal things of this world causes anxiety which can lead us to live in permanent uncertainty and deny us from God's Blessings. We must trust God and get rid of every worry in order to receive His provision.
  • Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. Paul used an illustration from the Corinth games to encourage the Christians at Corinth to imitate the athlete's strict training by living a disciplined, self controlled life. Christians must be faithful, disciplined and also live purposefully in order to obtain the everlasting crown from God.
  • He will be great and eminent and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob (Israel) forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.” This scripture describes the significance of Jesus as the Messiah and the Anointed king in the line of David who would rule over an everlasting kingdom. Anyone who believes in the Son of God will receive eternal life and live with Him in His everlasting Kingdom.
  • Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. Jesus used an example of a shepherd and his sheep to put His message across to His listeners. The shepherd developes a close relationship with his sheep and had a distinctive call which the sheep could recognize and respond and follow him. No matter how Jesus Christ spoke to them, they didn't believe Him because they were not His sheep. But those who believes in Him will respond to His call and follow Him. If we are willing to have a close relationship with Christ Jesus we must accept His Gospel and respond to His call of Salvation which gives us eternal life.
  • And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the Holy Spirit. This verse gives an example of what is acceptable and unacceptable in the sight of God. Christians are not encouraged to be intoxicated with alcohol, which can lead to moral intemperance, degrading character and can worsen ones situation to the point of helplessness. We must be filled with the fullness of the Holy Spirit in order to reflect God's character and virtues in our lives.
  • “If you love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments. This scripture portion Jesus Christ was talking about showing our Love for Him through obedience of His word.Faith must be connected with love which will lead to the obedience of God's word. Our willingness to obey God’s word shows our genuine love for Him.
  • For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. This scripture portion Paul said his life, time, and strength he had on earth, was to live for Christ. And death to him wasn't a loss but graduation to spend eternity with Christ Jesus in Heaven. Jesus should be the sole object for which we live. But life without Him is worthless and in vain.
  • But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. In this scripture portion Paul counts all other things as ‘’garbage‘’ compared with knowing Christ Jesus. He willingly denied his earthly benefits and opportunities as a means of attaining salvation. He had to forsake his ‘’gains’’ that he might ‘’acquire" salvation. Earthly achievements and worldly titles can not be compared to the gift of Salvation from Christ Jesus.
  • For I endure scorn for your sake, and shame covers my face. I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother’s children; for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me. In this scripture passage David was expressing his eagerness to honour God and His house, and also being disrespected by his brothers and other people because of his enthusiastism for the things of God. He subdued all his personal interests to the benefits and glory of God's name. We should respect and support people who are genuinely and actively doing the work of God but not to speak against them in order not to offend God.
  • Now I want you to know, believers, that what has happened to me [this imprisonment that was meant to stop me] has actually served to advance [the spread of] the good news [regarding salvation]. In this scripture portion the philipians assumed that Paul's imprisonment would hinder the spread of the Gospel. Rather God used his imprisonment as an opportunity for Paul to preach the Gospel in Caesar's palace which encouraged the Roman christians to spread the Gospel during his bondage. We should not allow anything to hinder us from spreading the Good news of Jesus Christ.
  • “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ In this scripture portion Jesus was giving directions to his disciples how to resolve an offence to preserve the peace and purity of the church to prevent public scandals. Christians should be able to resolve any offence within the church without public involvement.
  • I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth shall have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth shall have [already] been loosed in heaven. When the Lord conferred this power on Peter, and later upon the Twelve, To 'Bind' and to 'loose'. He was giving them the right to take appropriate measures for the conduct of the church’s affairs and the exercise of its discipline. The church should be able to restrict evil and promote what is good in the sight of God.
  • Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. This scripture talks about those who feel guilty and repent from their sins shall be comforted in their confession. When we genuinely repent from our sins God will forgive and console us.
  • Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. The scripture here talks about when we have the deepest desire for personal righteousness, it shows an evidence of our spiritual rebirth. Those who have deep cravings for spiritual blessings, shall not only have what they highly value and long to posses, but they will also have their fill of it. Anyone who desires for the righteousness of Christ Jesus will be satisfied.
  • If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? This bible verse teaches us that inappropriate honouring of worldly greatness and riches should be prevented from happening among christians. Beleivers should not encourage disrespectfulness or disorder in the body of Christ. God expects us to treat everybody equally regardless of who they are in our Christian society. So we should not show favouritism among ourselves, because God loves us equally.
  • Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. This scripture tells us the way to see God is to have a pure heart. Those who are truely saved and their hearts has been cleansed from all sins will see God. When we are pure in heart, then we will see God clearly without any veil of sin blocking our vision.
  • Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. This scripture talks about those who are humble before God, they will inherit the Blessings of Heaven and Earth. True humility is seen through meekness and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is a great price. We should let the humility of Christ reflect in us always.
  • But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’ anything more than that comes from the evil one. This scripture portion is telling us that our words should be capable of being trusted without any verbal ritual to give it validity. Adding an oath to our regular statement of the truth means that as Christians we are lowering ourselves to the level of the world which normally does not tell the truth. We should simply say yes or no to affirm any truth or lie.
  • “Do not give that which is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, for they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. This scripture does not mean that we should not preach the good news of Jesus to those who are not saved. Rather, the idea is that it is in vain to continue to preach the word  of God to those who have already heard it and have refused to accept it.The word of God is so precious that we should discern and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us in the proper place to share it to the unbelievers.
  • But when you give to the poor and do acts of kindness, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing [give in complete secrecy]. This phrase means that when we give money to support the work of God and the needy, it should be done freely and spontaneously without force or anyone noticing it.When we make a display or dwell on it in our thoughts, it can lead us to spiritual pride. When God sees the genuineness of  our heart in our given, He also will reward us.
  • When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to pray [publicly] standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets so that they may be seen by men. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full. Jesus was not condemning the practice of public prayer, but rather the misuse and insincerity of it.The idea here is that the people of God should not make a show of their prayers nor answers to their prayers in such a way that will not attract unnecessary attention from the public. When we spend quality time in prayers with our Heavenly Father, He also rewards us.
  • “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. Jesus used two gates and two roads to illustrate the decision that we must make to follow Him to Eternity. The wide gate leads on to a Broadway, and is  popular to many people, but the narrow gate leads on to a restricted way which few people choose. The decision between eternal life or eternal destruction is made based on our response to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus said “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back [to the things left behind] is fit for the kingdom of God.” Jesus emphasized the idea of absolute commitment to the work of God by using the example of a ploughman fixing his eye on the furrow to be made accurately, but it is ruined the instant he looks away. We will not enjoy the full benefit of His  Kingdom when we turn back from the service in His Kingdom. We cannot do the work of God with a distracted attention and a divided heart. God needs our full attention and complete commitment to do His work.
  • Jesus told them a parable: “Can a blind man guide [another] blind man? Will they not both fall into a hole in the ground? Our Lord tells His disciples that the Pharisees claimed to have the right teachings from the word of God but their teachings contradicted the true word of God. So anyone that follows them will fall into spiritual disaster because they themselves are spiritually blind. We must follow true spiritual leaders who have been called by God and have sound teachings and doctrines from the word of God that will take us to Heaven and not to Hell.
  • Jesus said, why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice or consider the log that is in your own eye? Jesus notes that if one first takes care of his own faults, he may be able to help others take care of their faults. We should daily examine our lives to make sure we are living right in the sight of God and not to criticize others when they fall, but to help them to have a right standing with God.
  • Jesus said, everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name’s sake will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life. It is assumed to be a great loss; and yet Christ promised to make up and give us more than we have lost for His name sake. All our sacrifices for the Kingdom of God will not be in vain.God will restore us on earth and also eternal reward in Heaven.
  • Elymas the sorcerer attempted to prevent the governor (Sergius Paulus) from accepting Christ Jesus when Barnabas and Saul (Paul) were preaching the gospel to him. When we look at the biblical account carefully, Elymas realized that he was about to lose his position and benefits that he received from the governor. So he tried to influence him negatively against the true word of God which will save the Governor's life. We should be careful not to prevent people from receiving the word of God which is able to save their lives, especially those who are willing to accept Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
  • Jesus said “Therefore, the one who   confesses and acknowledges Me before men, I will also confess and acknowledge before My Father who is in heaven.  But the one who denies and rejects Me before men, that one I will also deny and reject before My Father who is in heaven. Jesus statement shows that a true disciple should not be ashamed to declare their belief in Him both in private and public, because it is a privilege to be called the disciple of Christ Jesus. Our Christian lives should not only be in private but also in public for the whole world to see who we are in Christ Jesus then we will be accepted in the presence of the Heavenly father.
  • Jesus said “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. This statement clearly states that Christianity is not only verbal declaration of the Lordship of Jesus Christ but also being a doer of the word of God. A true saved believer is the one who constantly walks in the obedience to the word of God as the normal way of lives.
  • Jesus replied to the one who told Him, His mother and brothers are looking for Him whiles He was preaching, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers? “And stretching out His hand toward His disciples [and all His other followers], He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven [by believing in Me, and following Me] is My brother and sister and mother.” In this case, Jesus reveals the type of relationship that matters to Him in the Kingdom of God, because those who listen obey and act on His word, will be with Him in Heaven. God has placed us in a biological family for a reason, but also He expects us to belong to a spiritual family. God is well pleased with His spiritual family (church) who are actively preaching the word of God to win souls for His Kingdom.
  • The people in the land of Shinar came together to build a city for themselves, and a tower whose top will reach into the heavens, and make a famous name for themselves, so that they will not be scattered and be dispersed over the surface of the entire earth. Their main intention was to build a monument to promote self-worship, and to exalt themselves to the heights of Heaven, but not in the Holiness of God. Anything we do in the house of God must Glorify the name of the Lord but not to promote our image or deify anyone.
  • Simon said to  Peter “Give me this authority and power too, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” Peter said to him “May your money be destroyed along with you, because you thought you could buy the [free] gift of God with money! Simon's action shows clearly that he wasn’t converted and he had a materialistic view of God. Simon thought he could bypass accepting Christ Jesus to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit by offering money. The Gift of God cannot be bought with money , because it’s freely given by God to those who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
  • Jesus said "Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but [only] those who are sick". He did not come to call the righteous, but sinners. This is a great illustration of Christ Jesus eating with sinners to show us the Lord's way of taking the Good news of salvation to the sinners. The message of Christ Jesus is a redemptive message for everyone who is willing to repent from their sins and come to the Kingdom of God. Christians are not encouraged to participate in the sinful activities of this world, but to reach out to sinners with the Good news of Salvation.
  • David was the youngest among his six brothers, when he was alone as a Shepherd boy tending his father's sheep, he did not know that was his training ground for him to be anointed as a King. When God decides to elevate us, He does not look at our age, size, height, qualifications and profession. But He looks for a humble and a willing heart who wants to serve Him at all times.
  • When Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, they did not know that they were helping to fulfill God’s promise concerning his life to be appointed as a Governor in the same country in which he was sold. When the enemy tries to destroy our dreams and visions, we should have faith that God will use whatever they intend for evil to fulfill His promise in our lives.
  • When Jesus Christ carried His Cross to be crucified, all His disciples and followers deserted Him, the stranger who helped Jesus was even forced to bear His cross. But Jesus was not discouraged by their actions because He understood the process God was taking Him through to save the world and to be Glorified. When families and friends forsake us during our time of trials, we should not be disappointed, knowing that we are also going through a process to be exalted in due time.

God did not give him a specific location, but Abraham did not question God, he obeyed by following the map of God to the place prepared for him. • When Saul was on a mission to search for his father's lost donkey, he did not know that God was using that situation to order his steps to fulfill his destiny as a king. In the same way, we should trust God in every situation we find ourselves, because God can use any negative situation to fulfill His divine purpose concerning our lives.
  • Jesus Christ did not allow anything or anyone to distract Him from His Ministry which God sent Him to accomplish on earth. He depended daily on the Holy Spirit to achieve His mission on earth. They trusted God with their lives to direct them to the place that is predestined for them. • Jesus said, even wicked men know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more our Heavenly Father who is a good father. Among all the father's, God is the Greatest and we can depend on Him for our needs because He is a generous God.
  • Jesus and His Apostles were so busy that they often skip meal. When they had time to eat, the Pharisees observed them not washing their hands before the meals which was breach of the law. Instead of them to focus on the good works they were doing, they were rather looking for mistakes. They only imitate true spirituality and their conception of religion was wrong because it was based on outward conformity of the law. While the Apostles were involved serving the people. The word of God must show inward and outward in the way we serve God and our relationship with one another, rather than focusing on man made laws which doesn't add value to our spiritual life.
  • Jesus said I am the Good Shepherd; the Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. But the hired shepherd flees from the sheep when they see danger. This is a beautiful comparison between a called spiritual leader and a hired leader for salary. Christ is a good shepherd because He gives His life on behalf for the benefit of His followers. But the scribes had no true love, compassion and concern for the welfare and the spiritual growth of the people. A true spiritual leader will be there at all times to guide, protect and provide for the followers.
  • Jesus said to His disciples, now that I your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. Jesus intention was not to establish a doctrine of washing feet but an example of humility and service. When we are humble and willing to serve the Lord and each other within and outside the church, we have demonstrated the Humility of Christ and our Blessings will be unmeasurable.
  • Jesus told a parable to His disciples about a wicked Judge who does not fear God and a widow who needed Justice from the Judge. The Judge kept on turning her request down but she didn’t give up until she got Justice. We should notice that the Judge had no regard for the things of God, and the widow was helpless, poor and she was at the mercy of the Judge. This widow kept on trusting God despite the constant rejection from the Judge. The widow's perseverance was rewarded by the Judge granting her request. Peter said to the lame man silver and gold have I none but what I have I give you, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. The lame man believed and rose up and started walking. This clearly shows that the man was looking for money but all he needed was healing in the name of Jesus. He was only asking for temporary things but Peter gave him permanent healing in Christ Jesus. When we believe in the power of the name of Jesus Christ, every impossible situations in our lives will become possible.
  • Saul (Paul) was on his way to persecute the Christians when he had an encounter with Jesus Christ; saying Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting and oppressing me? A deep truth is revealed about the believers and the church that any sin regardless of its nature is directed against the Lord Himself. Saul thought he was persecuting meaningless Christians; instead he was persecuting the Lord Himself. We should be careful what we say or do against the body of Christ because Christ is the head of the church. Anything that we do not understand about the church, we should take it up in prayers and the Holy Spirit will reveal them to us.
  • Jesus is the vine; we are the branches. When we abide in Him and He in us, we will bear much fruit because without Him we can do nothing.
